Moral Bankruptcy of Bush “Culture of Life” Slogan Revealed by His View on Embryonic Stem Cell Research

Media Advisory, October 12, /Christian Wire Service/ -- The following statement has been issued by Constitution Party Presidential candidate Michael Anthony Peroutka. He is available for radio/TV/print interviews:

The moral bankruptcy of President Bush’s “culture of life” slogan has been revealed by his views on embryonic stem cell research. In the second Presidential debate, Mr. Bush said, correctly, that embryonic stem cell research “requires the destruction of life to get a stem cell.” Then, in the same breath, in the very next sentence, he bragged that he was “the first President ever” to allow Federal funding for this research --- which he had just said requires the destruction of a human life!

Seeking to explain his anti-Christian and un-Constitutional Federal funding of this “destruction of life” (his words), Mr. Bush said we’ve got to be “very careful” in “balancing the ethics and the science….To destroy life to save life is – it’s one of the real ethical dilemmas that we face.” But, this is NOT a real ethical dilemma! A basic Christian teaching for 2,000 years has been that an evil thing may not be done to achieve a good end. Thus, because embryonic stem cell research is evil and destroys an innocent human life, it may not, cannot, must not be done for any reason!

I am the only Presidential candidate who is 100 percent pro-life, all nine months, no exceptions. As President of the United States, I would do everything in my power to end legalized abortion beginning on my first day in office. I would start with a formal acknowledgement of the legal personhood of every child from the moment of conception. I would appoint U.S. Attorneys—by recess appointment if necessary—who will enforce the Fifth Amendment requirement that no person be deprived of life without due process of law.

Under my presidency, Roe v. Wade will not be enforced, and the member states of the Union could again open their criminal codes and begin the prosecution of the doctors and parents who would contract for the murder of an unborn child.
